Nigeria Clinches Seven Medals in Egypt Open 2015
Nigeria has won a total of seven medals at the Egypt Junior and Cadet Open championship, which ended in Cairo on Friday.


The team won four gold and three bronze medals. The gold medalists are, Tosin Oribamise, two gold; Abayomi Animashaun and Amadi Omen won a gold each. Bronze medals were won by Michael Obayomi and Animashaun in the Cadet boys team as well as another bronze by Oribamise, Akoke Ojomo and Alimot Ayinla. Also in the junior boys, Nurudeed Hassan, Olasunkanmi Oginni and Amadi Omen won another bronze.

Some of the final matches were hard-fought battles between Nigeria and Egypt in the cadet girls doubles, the pair of Nigeria’s Oribamise and Tunisia’s Fadwa Garci prevailed over the pair Egyptians Roa Amro and Farida Badawy, in a match that ended in straight sets — 11-8,11-7,11-6. In the cadet girls singles Oribamise recorded straight sets defeat of Egyptian Rolan Hesham 11-4,11-6 and 11-7.

Oribamise who could not express her happiness after clinching two gold medals and a silver says: “I am excited at the medals that I won. I thank God for being able to achieve this. It wasn’t by my power alone but by God’s grace. I played my heart out but everyone was here to win and the Egyptians gave me a tough time.
